Volunteer your remarketable gifts and become more marketable!

Volunteer and Market Yourself…Remarkably

“Remarkable Marketable Mehelps you share your remarkable gifts volunteering, making you more marketable along the way.

By Jean Robb

I didn’t have the best childhood. We didn’t have much, so if you needed something you had to find a way to get it. I started working at 11 years old selling candy door to door. I know very scary right, but at 11 years old all I knew was I had to sell a certain amount of candy before I could go home. When I knocked on a door, out came my foot and I didn’t move it until you bought a box of candy. The skills I learned from my difficult childhood, (my lemons) really became a blessing (my lemonade).

I learned at a really young age that persistence will open many doors. As an adult I have walked out on a stage with a tiger after Zig Ziglar and talked to over 2,000 people about overcoming their fears. I know you must be thinking…a tiger? I have volunteered for over 15 years with big cat sanctuaries and have learned you can do something you really love while helping others in remarkable ways. In today’s economy you hear lots of people say they can’t find a job. So what happens?

The longer you’re out of work, you start to lose your contacts. You’re not keeping up with the day-to-day changes in your trade. You’re simply out of the loop. The longer you’re in this position the more the fear sets in. What if I can’t find a job? I have so much to offer, how do I get someone to talk to me? Well as you can see, fear can really take a hold of you, it makes you feel like a deer in the headlights. How do you overcome these things?

First off, STOP listening to the FEAR and STOP making EXCUSES. Look, I’ve made many of the same excuses when I’ve let fear be a part of my life. I now realize that the answer to overcoming the fear is to replace it with remarkable things you can be proud of. Instead of asking why would anyone want to hire me, ask yourself why not me?

After volunteering you could say. Look at the change I’ve made in the lives of others. Look what I’ve learned along the way. Look at the skills I’ve been taught while helping others. Look at the great people I’ve met. They’ve seen first hand the type of passion I put into any job I take on. So how will this work? I have made a commitment to bring you a volunteering opportunity at least once a week. The process of volunteering can be more complicated than people may think.

Email me your news. I have included in each story all the information I received and the direct contacts to make it really easy for you to get your foot in the door.Network, Network, Network” See how you can use that experience to build your resume. Most of all how did you feel about helping others today.

My goal is to get you to share with all of us your experience. Think about how much we can learn from each other. Please email me your pictures and story to remarkablemarketableme@gmail.com so I can post them each day. I will add the trademarks, video and links for you.

Improved housing stability relates to reduced HIV risk and improved access to medical care according to the National AIDS Housing Coalition. SBH offers two types of what are referred to as permanent living settings, two settings as well for a transitional housing model and a financial assistance service for individuals and families who may be facing homelessness and can avoid eviction through help with either rent, mortgage or utility bills. There are over 80 units of housing, some of them are apartments, some condos and some are houses with a homelike environment for 4-5 persons. Through the emergency assistance effort 300-400 individuals and families are helped each year to remain housed.

Arizona Gay Rodeo Association

Hi, Joey Sarandos here. I'm so proud to be a supporter of the Arizona Gay Rodeo.

Welcome to Arizona's official Gay Rodeo Association

AGRA is a 501c(4) organization incorporated in the State of Arizona and is proud to host the annual Arizona Gay Rodeo formily RoadRunner Regional Rodeo for IGRA .
We're totally funded by private donations and our membership fees.

A little history

Things were shaking in Phoenix as early as 1982, when a small group traveled to the Reno rodeo and Tish Tanner won the title of Miss Reno National Gay Rodeo. Arizona came to life in the fall of 1984 when John King decided to open a second Charlie's in Phoenix.
The bar opened in early November and since John and Kenny Cunitz lived and breathed rodeo, it was only a matter of weeks before the Arizona Gay Rodeo Association (AGRA) formed.
In December 1984 the new group targeted January of 1986 for their first rodeo. Arizona became the fifth state to host a gay rodeo and the event took place in the most unique arena facility on the south side of Phoenix: a Mexican Charro rodeo arena with an attached dance hall known as the Corona Ranch.
AGRA is proud to be one of the 5 founding members of the International Gay Rodeo Association (IGRA) and priveleged to hold the Arizona heat for the International Rodeo league.
Since then. the story continues...
The Gay Rodeo History
The site you are about to visit is being developed in conjunction with the IGRA Archives committee and is currently hosted by Cowboy Frank.

A Recent Non-Profit Study Named The 10 Worst Charities To Donate To In America

The holidays are coming up quickly, and they're bringing the spirit of giving with them. Aside from giving presents to loved ones and friends, generous people often donate to charities around this time of the year. The holiday season is also one of the more profitable times of the year for most non-profits. However, you should be careful where you give your money. A recent report by the Tampa Bay Times shows exactly how much of your donated money goes to help the intended cause, and calls out the most wasteful non-profits in America.

1.) Committee For Missing Children

The Committee for Missing Children raised $27 million in donations over the past decade. They moved nearly $24 million of that to fundraising companies instead of helping kids.

2.) Children's Wish Foundation International

Children's Wish reportedly spent around $600,000 granting wishes to terminally ill children in 2010 and gave them donated goods valued at $3 million. The organization paid professional fundraisers nearly $6 million for their services the same year.

3.) Breast Cancer Relief Foundation

This was one of the nation's most wasteful charities for the past decade, according to IRS records. Throughout the decade, it raised nearly $64 million through professional fundraisers, while allowing companies to keep 70% of donations. Just more than 2% of donations raised were given directly to hospitals or to women in need of breast cancer screenings.

4.) National Veterans Services Fund

Many feel as if our veterans don't get the benefits they deserve after serving our country. In 2011, this charity raised about $9 million, and solicitors kept nearly 82% of the total amount raised.

5.) Children's Cancer Fund Of America

The Cancer Fund and its associated charities (including Children's Cancer Fund) raised $110 million in the past three years. The charities' solicitors were paid more than $75 million. Since it formed, Children's Cancer Fund raised nearly $38 million and let professional fundraisers keep nearly 78% of the money.

6.) International Union Of Police Associations

Of the $57 million in donations to this organization over the past decade, more than 72 cents of every dollar went to professional solicitors. Less than half of one percent (about $28,000 a year) was spent on survivor benefits.

7.) Firefighters Charitable Foundation

From 2002 to 2011, this organization raised $64 million in donations and paid $55 million of that to its solicitors. The charity spent less than 10 cents of every dollar raised on direct financial help to those in need.

8.) American Association of State Troopers

This organization raised about $45 million and spent less than $4 million on member benefits since 2004. The police officers represented by the charity get only around 16 percent of the money raised. Over the past eight years, the average percentage of funds spent on direct aid to members was much lower, at only around 9 percent.

9.) Cancer Fund of America

Year after year, CFA raises millions and sends 82 percent to its for-profit fundraisers. Fundraisers collected $98 million in donations over the past decade. Patients received less than $1 million in direct cash aid over those 10 years, according to IRS records.

10.) Kid's Wish Network

Kids Wish Network raises millions of dollars in donations every year, all in the name of dying children and their families. Each year, it squanders almost every penny. Sick children wind up with less than 3 cents of every dollar raised.
This year, when you plan to donate to a charity, do your research and make sure that the your chosen charity wisely spends their money. Yes, administrative and fundraising costs will always be present, but the cause is what's most important. Focus on who you end up helping.

Sneaky Pets and Harmful Foods: Keep Your Pets Safe This Thanksgiving

By Dr. Debora Lichtenberg, VMD, Pets Adviser

It’s time for that fun holiday again! You know. The one where you work all week, get home on Wednesday night, start cooking like a lunatic and continue slaving for the next 24 hours. Then you watch your relatives take a break from TV and games to gobble your food in five minutes flat. By 5 o’clock on Thanksgiving Day, you are standing amid what resembles a test kitchen for Breaking Bad after a meth explosion. Oh, and you have relatives staying for the weekend who need clean beds and breakfast. By Friday morning you need to go back to work to get some rest! Maybe your Thanksgiving is nothing like that. With any luck, the modern American November nightmare has turned into a post-modern Americana weekend of football and friends for whom you are thankful, helping out at every corner, enjoying warm, meaningful conversations by an international fire.Whatever the case, Thanksgiving weekend is often full of food and visitors. You are often busy cooking and hosting, and your pets may get a little lost in the hullabaloo. Your furry Drumsticks and Cranberry-heads need to be kept safe and happy too. Here are a few tips...

By Dr. Debora Lichtenberg, VMD, Pets Adviser

The year-end holiday season can be the Bermuda Triangle of anxiety for your pets, not to mention yourself. Our furry friends don’t like change, don’t like when their family is gone and often don’t like intruders (relatives) in their own space. Careful planning may reduce your holiday stress and theirs. Whether it’s to grandmother’s house you go, or your relatives and friends are encircling your own hearth, now is the time to plan for the care of Pumpkin the cat and Holly the hound...

6 Things Your Cat Wishes You Knew

By T.J. Banks, Pets Adviser

Over the years, I’ve been adopted by many cats. Others I’ve met through my Reiki practice, rescue work and pet sitting gigs.
So I like to think I speak cat pretty fluently. Maybe with a funny accent but well enough that we understand each other.
These are some of the things they’ve conveyed to me over the years...

Tuesday's Children ~ 9/11 Charity Making The Biggest Difference

In the 12 years since the tragic World Trade Center attacks, a number of organizations have committed their missions to meaningfully remembering the thousands of victims murdered, supporting survivors and finding inspirational ways to channel grief into an opportunity to bring comfort, hope and peace to the world.
Find out how you can get involved with the nonprofits that are making the greatest difference.
Tuesday's Children
tuesdays children
Originally established to provide support for the more than 3,000 children affected by September 11, Tuesday's Children has now evolved into helping anyone impacted by any disaster around the world.
Find out how you can get involved here.

Tuesday’s Children partners with recognized leaders in the fields of child development, family advocacy, crisis counseling and mentoring to develop an innovative platform of programs to meet the changing needs of thousands of individuals who continue to heal after the tragic events of September 11, 2001. Tuesday’s Children provides direct services and continuous outreach to approximately 10,000 individuals, including bereaved families and individuals, families of first responders, veterans of post-9/11 military operations, and teenagers from around the world impacted by a traumatic loss due to terrorism. We have an enduring commitment to the children who lost parents on September 11, 2001, and as they grow, so does Tuesday’s Children. We are providing access to career services and empowering them to give back through community service, mentoring, and supporting younger children in our community, including children of veterans and first responders. As a long-term response and recovery organization, the Tuesday’s Children strategy and mission, grounded in the principle of resilience and strength through community, has now been adapted to meet the needs of other communities affected by traumatic events. The Resiliency Center of Newtown, a new program of Tuesday’s Children, is implementing our Long-Term Healing Model, which provides recovery services to support the families impacted by the December 14, 2012 tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary.

Looking Forward:

We lost dear friends and relatives on September, 11th, but in the process, we’ve healed as a community and created lasting relationships that bond us together. Through our commitments to each other, we can heal by turning our tragedies into a positive force for good. We have a enduring commitment to the children who lost parents on September 11th, and as they get older we are providing access to career services and strive to empower them to become the next generation of leaders by allowing them to give back through community service, mentoring, and supporting younger children in our community, including children of veterans and first responders. Tuesday’s Children has a moral responsibility to share the knowledge we’ve gained since September 11th, about long-term and collective healing. For this reason, our mission has expanded to offer support and programming to other communities impacted by acts of terror. Through programs like Project COMMON BOND and the Resiliency Center of Newtown, we are committed to being a leader in long-term recovery from mass acts of tragedy and terrorism. We feel it is our duty not only to memorialize those we’ve lost, but to do all we can to comfort and support their children and families…ur living memorials.

Our Mission

Tuesday’s Children was founded to promote long-term healing in all those directly impacted by the events of September 11, 2001. Our mission today is to keep the promise to those children and families while serving and supporting communities affected by acts of terror worldwide.
